Hosting your First Twitter Space

Just Start đŸŽ€

Introduction

In 2022, I listened and spoke at my first Twitter space which was hosted by Shawn Charles, "The Hunt", focusing on:

  • getting a Job in Tech

  • adding value

  • grabbing the mic and networking

The Hunt is a popular space on tech Twitter, as speakers and listeners, seasoned developers and newbies, come together to share and learn from their vast knowledge and experience, as well as, connect.

So, if you are a developer or you have an interest in tech, you should attend one of his spaces.

At the end of this article, you will learn how to hold your first-ever Twitter space successfully.

Hosting My First Twitter Space

This year (2023), I have become active on tech Twitter, listening and speaking on several spaces. So I decided it is time to host mine and I made a tweet about it.

On March 4 2023, I held my first-ever Twitter space, titled: "Testing Tech Twitter", co-hosted by Mak, Kassy and Aaliyah.

It was a success, though, Twitter's glitch ended the first one, I immediately created another and people re-joined.

The main topic of discussion in that space was for speakers to share their tech journey with the audience and also connect with like-minds in the tech space.

I was nervous before the space started, that I had to google, "how to hold a good Twitter space" 😂

On March 11 2023, I hosted my second Twitter space, titled: "Tech Week Review".

This was co-hosted by Mak and Kassy, here, speakers tell us about their tech week and their plans for the coming week to keep growing in their tech journey.

The space is basically to serve as an accountability partner for each speaker as they will give a review of their tech week in subsequent space(s).

Conclusion

It is recommended to have a specific reason to host a space, this should be a criterion for selecting the space's title, and you need to also know your intended audience.

Hosting a Twitter space is not a necessity for all Twitter users but here are a few reasons you should:

  • It is one of the ways to add value to your community.

  • It increases your visibility.

  • It enhances networking.

  • It is fun.
